I first go interested in the King breed when I went to my county fair. There, I saw the most adorable white hen! I immediately fell in love with the breed and started my search in locating some.

A few weeks later, I saw an ad in my local paper describing kings for sale! I got in touch with the breeder and soon found myself on the way home with two pairs. The birds quickly adjusted to their new home and became quite friendly.

The pairs bonded and before I knew it, they had layed eggs! Well, sometimes this breed can be a little clumsy due to their size(they don't mean too), and they smashed their eggs or accidentily stepped on the squabs. These two pairs only successfully raised three young. ( Actually, only one pair raised the squabs, the other never successfully raised thiers.)

A few years later, I found another ad in the paper describing kings for sale! So of course I was interested and planned a trip to purchase a few pairs. Well, I ended up with five pairs of white kings! But it was more like two because all the rest were actually male. However, these birds raised young much better and soon I didn't have room for all of the newest arrivals. At the end of 2005, I successfuly sold six of them! I hope to breed more for 2006!
