Did you know?
The King breed is not ancient, and it was first developed in the 1890's in the USA by crossing four older breeds:
  • The Dutchess for grace
  • The Maltese for compactness and style
  • The Homer for alertness
  • The Runt for body and size
Kings originally only came in one color- white, and thier first national recognition came in 1915!

Show King loft, built by me with my own two hands!! Soon adding a third section.

When I first got interested in the king breed, I had no idea there were basically two different types: show and utility. I didn't know I had the utility type until I was looking for some information on the internet. Then I saw the show kings. I was so amazed by these beautiful birds that I automatically wanted to raise them as well with my utilities. I just fell in love with the king breed in general:)

I did a little more research and learned that the utility breed is raise primarily for consumption, while the show breed is raised for, well, show! I was lucky enough to located a breeder and I purchased 4 pairs.

Right now, the majority of my show kings are sitting on eggs, and I cannot wait for babies! I will, of course, show these birds, and I will also sell a few when the time comes.
